I came across this interesting article that discusses, "What is safer, trees or water?"

http://www.equipped.com/watertrees.htm

I think you might be surprised with the odds of survival for landing in trees, bodies of water, and on open plowed fields.

Survival rates are quite high for each and are pretty much equal with the difference being in the number of injuries.

A slow landing speed is most important. After the landing area is made it is very important to slow that airplane ...

Dear Sir,

I finished flight school in December and I am currently flight

instructing in Georgia. Still a novice but loving every minute of

instructing. I've got a long ways to go for sure. With every hour

of dual given though I usually learn a few things that hopefully

translate to me becoming a better pilot.

And I'm definitely glad to be working too. I just worry about job

Although tourism development offers significant attractions, there are also significant negative impacts. Firstly, the industry is subject to instabilities, and in many tourism regions, climatic constraints produce a pronounced seasonal effect. Statistics illustrate the seasonality of tourism in a number of destinations, and from an economic perspective, it points to the problems of having facilities that are under-utilized or even closed (and therefore entirely unproductive) for certain seasons.

Last week I had to take a VIP back to his hometown in California. Earlier in the day I departed Kanab, Utah (KNB)and made a southwesterly departure and was sure to avoid the Las Vegas Class Bravo Airspace at all costs. On the way back to St. George I realized that if I flew over the Class Bravo Airspace I could shave 15-20 minutes off of my already long flight. In my GPS I set the flight plan direct LAS then Direct SGU. I departed French Valley Airport and quickly got flight following. As ...

One day I took a student from St. George, UT to Henderson, NV. I would take them down to do their 3 towered solo landings and then we would do a night return. These days it seems that the Vegas controllers are more strict or have more on their plates. On this particular night we got a squawk code from Henderson ground to be able to get into the Class B airspace. We took off and proceeded south at which point Henderson tower handed me off to Vegas Approach. I asked to pass over the numbers ...

In general, my assigned airspace was that area north of the LAS ILS runway 25 approach below 4500 ft, and the area north of McCarran up to just south of the Showboat Hotel. I was also taking handoffs from the McCarran South Controller on aircraft that would have to make a normal traffic pattern at McCarran.

While he believes the recession will end soon, Piper Aircraft president and CEO James Bass said the effect of the U.S. government’s “assault” on general aviation will linger much longer. In aviation it seems that there is a flying everything. I didn't believe it and thought that a Gyrocopter was something on video games or out a a James Bond movie. Well they are real and there is a flight school that is everything Gyros-AirGyro Aviation in Spanish Fork Utah. Visit them at www.airgyro.com

GATS Jar Product Suggestion

I have found that the GATS Jar is a perfect alternative to the smaller fuel samplers. The GATS Jar gives you a larger sampling jar with a screen so you can return the fuel to your take free of impurities. The GATS Jar pays for itself after just a few samplings.

The GATS Jar is available at all aviation retailers including www.redmountainaviation.net
